Feliz Navidad Amigos

Happy Holidays Everyone! Mom was trying very hard to annoy me, with my Taco Bell Chihuahua and my Santa hat, so I had no choice but to stick my tongue out at her.
Then, she wanted me to wish you all a "Meowy Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Please see video.

Hope you all are safe, happy, and warm this holiday season.

Sunny Sunday

Well, hello everyone. It was a lovely day here in the desert...80 degrees! Mom finally let me out to snooze in the backyard. (She's been worried for a few days, 'cause I was not eating or drinking...But I came back last night, about 1:35 am! )

anyway...I was trying to snooze in the backyard, but she kept snapping the stupid camera.

After this big yawn, I finally got a short nap in. Hope you all are having a wonderful holiday season.
Lots of love,
Tigger!

Hello and Thank you

Hi Everyone,
Hope you all are doing well. Mom is posting some old pics of me that the Grandma brought down. I used to love to lay in the laundry basket, and...STILL love to destroy window blinds...especially if I'm not getting my way!
I hope you all are doing well. Mom needs to send out a big THANK YOU to "Amy and the House of Cats" and anyone else who suggested these...but she finally tried the "pill pockets" and they have done wonders for me taking my kidney medicine. Mom thanks you, thanks you, thanks you!
And I, being the suave kitty that I am, thank you, because I'm feeling gooood! This has allowed me to be ESPECIALLY naughty and destructive at night! I just love it!
Hope you all are having a Happy Fall.
Purrs to you, and the frequent love bite,
Tigger

Happy Tuesday and Happy Early Halloween!

Hello Everyone, (Mom awoke me from my early, early morning nap to write this one!)
I thought Mom was going to stop blogging...she hasn't done it in so long. But thank goodness for a gentle nudge from Whicky, (both Mom and I have a thing for him) or the world might never hear of my greatness again!
Anyway, I had a lovely time with the grandma. She has since gone back to her own state, and I'm stuck here in the desert.
However, it has gotten much nicer lately, even nice enough one day for me to go in the Jeep and hide out! I love to sleep in there, as I've mentioned previously.
I've been feeling fine lately, and have been doing well taking my thyroid meds, but still being quite naughty with the kidney pills. Mom needs to find a better way and soon!
Hope you all are doing well. Mom is going to take a day off work soon, just to catch up with everyone's lives.
Many purrs and the occasionally love bite to you all.
Happy Halloween!

The Grandma is coming!

First of all, mom sends her apologies for not getting around to see everyone. Work, and life have been CRAZY, and very, very busy!
However, I made her write a quick note tonight, as the Grandma comes tomorrow! I'm so excited!
Mom has included an old picture of the grandma and me. You can see in it, I am giving her a hug!
Hope everyone is doing well. Mom hopes to catch up with everybody soon!
Lots of love to everyone,
Tigger

Lazy Sunday

Well Mom spent a lot of the day doing school stuff and watching football. She did take time out to change the sheets, however. That is one of my FAVORITE pastimes! (See pics.)
I just couldn't help myself...had to hide and play underneath...
This is just so fun!
Hope you all have a wonderful week!

I'm back!

Thanks again to everyone for the support. The kitties on the web, and the people they choose to honor with their kitty presence, are just so great. We did get the bloodtests back...thyroid is down, but kidney is up. That is some good news,& some bad news. But it is partially due to the fact that I was convincing mom I was taking the Benazipril (kidney helping medicine) when in fact, I was hiding them in my mouth. Mom didn't find this out until she found a pile of the little white pills behind the curtain, where I was hiding them. (Crazy, but true.)Darn! So now she has started crushing it and putting it into my food. I'll have to find a way to get back at her. For now, however, she is forgiven, as she brought home a King Crab leg for me tonight, and I have to say, yum, yum, yum! Not supposed to have that much protein, but every once in awhile, an old guy's gotta have a little fun. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. It's back to work for mom tomorrow, so I should at least be able to get a decent nap. (here's just a silly little video of me exploring my garden.)
Lotsa love,
Tigger

Sublime Saturday

Hi Everyone,
Mom first wanted to thank everyone for all the kind words. She gets so weepy, it is embarrassing, but she & I do thank you for all the purrs and good thoughts--it was quite unexpected and overwhelming, in the best of ways.
It has been mostly a good day.  Earlier in the day, mom took me to the v-e-t, for a blood test. I did manage to get in a few kitty swear words to those trying to take the blood, but unfortunately they did not understand. Don't know the results of the blood test yet...but as a kitty, I always think positive, and as one my mom's favorite author's says, kitties are always in the "present." So, at this present moment life is good. There is a lovely monsoon thunderstorm rolling through the desert tonight. I'm one of those weird kitties that loves wind. I think I was "Super Kitty" in my last life. Just need a cape, with an "SK".    Hope you all are doing well, and thanks again.

Livin' Large

Okay, so mom has had a ton going on...new school year...tough start...30 kids...but the main reason she wasn't writing was-- she took me to the vet as I was howling, and not doing very well.
Granted, I'm over 20, and she knew the news couldn't be good....and it was not good.   The vet told mom I have serious thyroid and kidney problems. So I have started on chicken flavored meds twice/day. Mom didn't want her remaining memories of me to be sad ones, so she was not going to write about all of that, but the mom's dad, convinced her once again to write about the most interesting thing in her life, ME :). Thank God for her Dad. Anyhoo, I have been faithfully (somewhat) taking my meds, and mom has noticed a marked improvement. I go in for bloodtests again in about a week, and mom is encouraged, as I have been much more back to my old grouchy self. We all know our old bodies can't live forever, but old souls like ours will go on an on! Much love to you all.

How Mom & I met...and a brief history

About 19 years ago, when I was already over 3 years old, Mom was working in a bar--yes, a bar, bar tending. (That was before she became an old school teacher!) She would get home around 3 am. She lived in a lovely apartment, overlooking a small lake. When it was cool, she would leave her sliding door open, for a fresh breeze. Well one night after work, when she was particularly tired, she happened to leave the sliding door open when she went to bed...
..As a young, curious, bachelor kitty about town, I could not help myself. I wandered into her open screen door. She was in a water bed, and falling asleep, wiggling her foot. Now as many of you kitties know, some of us cannot resist attacking wiggly things under blankets...so of course I had to pounce on the wiggling foot!
...Mom screamed herself awake, trying to figure out what was attacking her foot, and wondering how did it get in her bed??? (She was lucky it was only me, and not a raccoon, or a skunk!) Anyway, she laughed out loud, and said, "I was the cutest thing she had ever seen," and of course I did not argue.
The rest as they say...is history.
The funniest parts are, there were 6 people in the apartment complex, who all thought I belonged to them. They would eventually find out the truth after watching me and talking to each other...that I would stop by each of my so called "owners" for a bite to eat, a snooze, and the occasional lovin's. I had them all going for quite a while...
There was actually a British lady who was really my first mom in the apartment complex, and she pronounced my name "Tigga." She had to move back to England, though, so I decided on my current Mom, as at the TIME she was quite a night owl, and provided lots of good eats, and entertainment.
Now we've kind of grown old together. We have had many laughs, adventures, and priceless experiences together. She loves me very, very much, and she knows how very special I am. I have been her best buddy for just about ever! Of course, I have aged better than she, and I'm obviously still much more fun and better looking. Over the years I have saved her from many a bad person. (I used to bite the heads off of any roses her latest and not so greatest boyfriend would bring her. ) She's not a bad momma, however, I find I still have to train her daily. Hope you enjoyed our brief history. Have a great day!

Happy 4th of July!

...or just Happy Weekend, if you don't celebrate it.
Mom finally let me out of jail, I mean the house, under close supervision today. I like to go out in the front yard, 'cause there's more freedom, but Mom won't let me go alone, due to cars, my age, dogs,-- blah, blah, blah. I think she just uses it as her "control." So, I'll let her think that. She wanted to thank all of you who took the time to reply and help with the blog. She appreciates it very much. She's still working on the brief version of how we met. It'll be coming soon.
So here I am next to what my mom thinks is a "Desert Spoon" plant. (She's not totally sure.) I just like it 'cause it is really sharp and spiky, and feels good to scratch against. It is also especially fun to crawl under, as Mom can't get me without severely injuring herself. (hee, hee, hee.)
Hope you all have a GREAT rest of your weekend.
Adios,
Tigger

Help Wanted

Well, it is hot, hot, hot, here in the desert today...too hot to go outside. About 113 degrees. Mom will only let me out for about 5 minutes at a time...since she thinks I'm old and fragile. (yeah, right.)
Anyhoo--I was thinking she could probably use some help with MY blog. I made her start writing in January of this year. She was completely new and naive to the world of blogging, and let's be honest...quite clueless. We just wanted to start writing about me, as I'm so funny and handsome.
She (and I) had NO idea about the world of cat blogs, the cat blogosphere, etc. Thanks to some very nice people, (like Whicky Wuddler--where is he anyway?) and several others of you, we have managed to hobble along in our endeavors. Mom would like any other help/advice you have to offer. Like, when she sees something really wonderful (like a banner, etc.) is she allowed to copy and paste that to her blog? (Like the banner "Blogging without Obligation." She LOVES that one.) And where does she get banners, or how do I become a "Floof and Fur" member, etc?
There seems to be a whole etiquette/vocabulary out there and we really don't want to step on any paws...so if someone could fill in the helpless human, that'd be great...(like the Mancat Mondays, Wordless Wednesdays, etc.)
Maybe there's a kitty blogging manual out there, that someone can send my way?
Hope you all are having a terrific, and hopefully much cooler Monday than we are in AZ.
Adios,
Tigger

Kitty Faux Paw

Well, Happy Friday everyone! Mom is out of school for about another month, so like it or not, she has more time on her hands. Unfortunately, she has been spending some of it taking pictures of me...
So, I don't like to admit this, as it is a little embarrassing from a kitty's point of view...but I like water--when I am in control of it, and when I think Mom isn't watching. I like puddles, sprinklers, etc. Weird, I know, but I never claimed to be normal. Anyway, I'm usually very careful to make sure Mom can't catch me in the act of getting in the water, but this time she caught me...on camera!
Then, I was trying to make her think I had disappeared. Kind of like hide-and-seek, only with a very demented kitty's mindset. So I thought I was hidden behind the curtain, and curses! I was foiled again! My big tail gave me away. Guess I'll just have to go snuggle with her on the couch! She wins...
Have a greeaaat weekend!
Adios,
Tigger

Mom's a bonehead!

Happy Sunday everyone! Mom &  I were feeling a little neglected as we hadn't gotten any comments on our last blog. She's a big dork, and wants to publicly apologize to everyone! She did something to her settings to where comments had to be checked first before being published. She says "she honestly doesn't even know how she did it." Anyhoo, I thank you all for coming by today and everyday, and I will see to it, that the problem is fixed PRONTO! For her punishment, and my enjoyment, she will get 50 chomps from me periodically throughout the day, and very little sleep tonight! Ta Ta, and we'll be by shortly to see all of you.
Adios from your long-suffering furry highness,
Tigger!

(PS-It has been suggested to me by my human Mom's Dad that she write a brief history about our meeting, & thus subsequent life together. Check back if interested :).

BOO HOO

Mom's a little sad today--as the Suns lost. So she's up here drowning her sorrows on the computer. I hate the stupid thing, except for it helps me get the word out on ME :) ! Anyway, I'm pretending to console mom, by laying real close to her keyboard--however my real intention is to one day kill the thing!
Hope you all are having a glorious Sunday, and Memorial Day weekend.
Adios,
Tigger

Happy Mother's Day!

Buenos Dias and Happy Mother's Day to all you Mom's. I decided to celebrate my Mom's day by waking her up at the crack of dawn, as well as the usual 1:30 a.m., 3:30 a.m., and 4:30 a.m. times. Believe it or not, she was not super excited about that! Anyhoo, hope you all have a wonderful Mother's Day!
We had a good week. Per one of my mom's student's suggestions, for Cinco de Mayo I did a Mexican CAT dance (instead of a Mexican Hat Dance.) It was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Other than that, it has started to get quite hot here, already in the desert, so I must spend more of my days sleeping, and more of my nights terrorizing Mom. Can't wait! I plan to spend the rest of today on her lesson plan books, or lounging on her feet for the occasional foot biting opportunity. (see pics)

Adios and Ta Ta for now.

whew!

Well Happy VERY LATE Easter to everyone.(Thank you Whicky--for the Easter Greetings!) Sorry! I finally had to bite mom in the foot (see picture) to get her into gear, and get busy w/ my blog again. sheesh! She had her birthday WEEK as she likes to call it, and so she lost track again, of what is most important, ME. Anyhoo, she was busy w/ going to the Phoenix Suns/Spurs game, and a really cool pizza place, (rated best pizza in the US--Pizzeria Bianco.) At the end of her b-day week, we had a scare w/ an unknown man sneaking into our backyard--which has 6 foot high fences--and backs up to other yards. He did some damage. It was really freaky, but mom called me her "watch kitty" as I tried to warn her before she heard him...by pacing back and forth for several minutes. Takes the humans a bit to catch on! They don't have our extrasensory kitty perception. Poor things. But all is well now, even though I remain on high alert, unless snoozing. Hope all is well w/ all of you. I plan to visit some of you if and when mom gets done w/ this typing. She's off to watch the Suns in the first game of the playoffs, so I may be cruising the web alone! Thanks for coming by. Adios for now.

Grandma's gone :(

Well, the Grandma came & left. (This was the human Mom's mom.) We all had a great time, although mom & grandma spent quite a bit of time out eating Mexcian food--almost every day! I actually didn't mind that, as they brought me home leftovers that, for the most part, were quite tasty. They also planted flowers, walked in the park, and spent a lot of time focused on ME. Yay! It was gorgeous while grandma was here, but it rained the day she left. That was appropriate as I was very sad, so I hid under the covers. (See picture.) I wanted to thank everyone for their comments. Mom has gotten back to some of you,  we'd especially like to thank Whicky Wuudler for his suggestion on the cat blogosphere. You all are very nice. It'll be nice getting to know you, and we appreciate your kind comments.
Okay, gotta go climb in the back of mom's computer chair. I like to sit there and bite her in the butt while she's working. (See picture.) Adios everyone!

Rare rainy Sunday

Well, Mom has been busy, so she's been neglecting my blog. Her apologies. School has gotten a little crazy lately. and I tried to tell her that is NO EXCUSE! What is most important here? ME! Anyway, she'll hopefully be better around Mar. 12. Then she'll be off for 2 weeks, and she'll have more time to write.

I'm so excited, the "Grandma" is coming a week from tomorrow! That would be the human Mom's mom. I really adore her--the Grandma, and can't wait for her to come and sweet talk me. I wish the human Mom's Dad was coming too, but he's not. Last time he came, he made me really good shrimp, and blackened salmon. I'm a little crazy that way--I LOVE spicy food. Weird for a kitty, I know, I know, but I do LOVE it. Anyway, he's not coming, but he'll be in my thoughts. I know the Grandma will spoil me while she's here.

Other than that, it was (as the title suggests) a rare, but very rainy Sunday here in the desert. It rained and rained, and I hate rain.I like to blame everything on my Mom...including the rain, so I let her know of my displeasure, through long, loud, inharmonious howls today. FINALLY the rain let up for a short period of time, and she took me outside with her. I thought about climbing the tree in the picture, but decided not to. Anyway, thanks for the last comments. I really appreciate them, and am working very hard on returning those messages. Like I said before, Mom is new to this, and will return the thanks as soon as possible.
Thanks again everybody. Ta ta for now.

Hello World!

Mom wanted me to write and say how excited and surprised she was, when she checked my blog and found all my new friends and followers! She said to tell you all THANK YOU, and she'll be checking out your blogs, sites, etc, and messaging you very soon. Please bear with her--she's new to all of this, and I often feel, she's not what you'd call "the sharpest knife in the drawer"--but we have to give her a break--she is after all, HUMAN. I'd like to think she has a firm grasp of the obvious! Okay, enough of the human bashing. I do have to thank you all personally, as my new celebrity status earned me BOTH halibut and chicken today. I don't know how long this will last, but I'm going along for the wild ride! I think the more you follow, the more I'll get! I always knew I was destined for greater things...
Regarding today, I have to say after the feasting, I was a little annoyed with Mom. When she is home, I expect to be the center of THE universe. She actually had the nerve to go walking in Freestone Park today, AND she's posting a picture of IT (see picture of Freestone Park) to show you what a beautiful February day it was today. S0 no picture of me this time. HOW RUDE! Luckily this is a 3 day weekend for us, and I'll get to abuse, I mean ridicule, I mean use her again tomorrow and Monday. Time to go watch the Olympics from Vancouver. Thanks again, and adios from AZ for now.

Superbowl Sunday!

Well, last year Mom went skiing on this weekend...she made it home for the last part of the game...just in time to see the Cardinals almost win :(. This year the skiing is the best it has been in 15 years where she goes, and she doesn't have the money to go...SO she's feeling sorry for herself! BOO HOO. I don't feel sorry for her. I'm just happy to be alive. At least now today, I will get to torment her, and I will get to eat chicken and halibut as I choose. I think I'll sleep in the Jeep for a little while again, then maybe get up and howl, not sure yet. One thing is for sure--when that stupid football game comes on, I'm out! (I found out the other night, however, that I'm quite fond of the Suns.) Anyhoo, Mom wanted me to say, "GO COLTS!" She really likes Peyton Manning. Okay all, ta ta for now. (PS--See another cute picture--I was a little bigger then, so couldn't quite fit in the chair.)

Lazy Sunday Afternoon

Mom is watching football---I don't like it...she gets too loud. Plus, she's having a hard time deciding who to root for--She likes both Eli Manning and Bret Favre--pronounced Fav-Ruh in my book, and in the movie "Something About Mary." Anyhoo, I've just been sunbathing. I like to look out at my garden, with the DOOR OPEN! (See picture.) I don't necessarily like to go out, just like to have the control and power to lay right in the open door. Who cares about flies, bugs, and lizards?
I also discovered a few more things I love/hate today.
Love: Pillsubury Garlic Butter Crescent Rolls, (which is weird, 'cause I'm a CARNIVORE)
Hate: Jillian Michaels Workouts. Mom's been doing them to get in shape. She loves them! She hops all over the living room, with this lady yelling at her. I try to get just underneath her legs when she's lifting them up, so she can't put them down, and has to stop. It is so funny, and...I WIN!
Mom wanted me to write every once in awhile about past experiences...since we've had many of them together. A long time ago we lived in Chandler, with, in my opinion, a large, grotesque, shrek-like creature, that she once in awhile called her "boyfriend." YUK. Anyway, I often used this human for feeding purposes, but mostly enjoyed tormenting him. I would wait until he or his friends passed out on the couch...then would hop into the sink in the guest bathroom. When they would stumble off the couch, and into the bathroom--bam! Shock, fear, wonder, (I'd like to think) filled their hearts and minds, as they questioned reality and their surroundings observing a sink fulla kitty! (See picture.) Oh that was so fun.
I also enjoyed biting the heads off any flowers Shrek chose to bring home for Mom...those were the days!
I am, however, so much happier in my home we've been in for many years. I graciously share it with Mom, as she provides decent food, water, warmth, and snuggling when necessary. Okay, time to go. Mom's lost it..Bret is kicking Eli's team's you know what! Have a great Sunday. Ta ta for now!

Relaxation and GET AWAY!

Mom spent most of the day cleaning, as she has to head back to work on Monday after 2 weeks off. She'd like to think that I'll miss her! She had that stupid vacuum going most of the day--I hate that. So, I retreated to one of my favorite spots--the driver seat of her Jeep--in an enclosed garage of course (see my cute picture.) I only got out to get some Spicy Chicken, and to let her know of my displeasure. Hope everyone's 2010 is going great so far!

Happy New Year!

It's a new year, a new day, and finally time to start a new blog! I'm a Norwegian Forest Cat named Tigger. I am 20 years old. No really, I am. I have a 44 year old single Mom--a teacher, former ski bum, who often questions the validity of her life, and life in general. That is of course, until she usually takes a look at me. I put it (life) all into perspective.

I spend my days, lounging, sleeping, playing, howling, EATING, then repeat, not necessarily in that order. I often have to listen to the endless babbling of humans, blah de blah de blah! They (humans) have their uses, but they (their uses) are limited. Please see my picture. I know...so cute. Check back later for further updates. (Ski season is upon us, so my Mom may be gone more than usual! More time for me on the computer, and more revenge for her when she comes home!
